Ridgway Office Grand Opening 2011.

On May 10, 2011 the Elk County Eye Clinic expanded to include a satellite office in Ridgway, PA. The new facility currently operates both Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am to 5pm, with Saturday hours starting in July.

Dr. Brett Karlik Joins Elk County Eye Clinic in January 2011.

Dr. Karlik is a new associate in the practice bringing years of surgical experience in complex surgical cases. He joined the practice January 1, 2011. Join us in welcoming Dr. Karlik, his wife Natalie, and two children Logan and Raven to Saint Mary's.

Dr. Luis W. Lu named Honorary Professor of Ophthalmology at prestigious C. Heredia Peruvian University School of Medicine.

On December 11, 2009, the Dean of C. Heredia Peruvian University School of Medicine, Dr. Luis Caravedo-Reyes named Dr. Luis W. Lu, Honorary Professor of Ophthalmology of the most prestigious school of medicine in Peru in a ceremony at the main campus.

Dr. and Mrs. Lu Donate an Ultasound Department to a Peruvian Women's Hospital.

In memory of their mothers, Dr. Luis W. Lu and his wife, Laura E. Lu, donated an array of Ultrasound equipment to the A. Loayza Hospital of Opthalmology, a low-income women's hospital in Peru.

Dr. Luis W. Lu Receives Achievement Award From The Peruvian Society of Ophthalmology

Dr. Luis W. Lu was selected as the 2008 recipient of the Peruvian Society of Opthalmology Achievement Award. For the 50th Aniversary of the Society Foundation, two medical doctors in Opthalmology were selected to receive awards, one from within Peru, the other living abroad. Under peer review, Dr. Lu has been considered the most successful eye surgeon from Peru residing in a foreign country.

Dr. Luis W. Lu Considered Among 'America's Top Opthalmologists' for 2006 and 2007 in Intraocular Lens Surgery and Corneal Transplantations

The Consumer 's Research Council of America has once again ranked Dr. Luis W. Lu among the top opthalmologists in Intraocular Lens Surgery and Corneal Transplantations. This distinction is based upon publications, medical education, surgical volume, quality of surgery, and ranking among his peers.

AMA Physician’s Recognition Award

Dr. Luis Washington Lu, from St. Marys, Pennsylvania has been a seven times recipient of the American Medical Association (AMA) Physician’s Recognition Award (PRA) for his achievement in Continuing Medical Education, demonstrating his commitment to staying current with advances in medicine.

AMA PRA credit is recognized and accepted by hospital credentialing bodies, state medical licensure boards and medical specialty certifying boards.

Argentinean Society Of Ophthalmology 2007

During the 2007 Annual Meeting of the Argentinean Society of Ophthalmology and the Argentinean Council of Ophthalmology, Dr. Luis W. Lu received the Teaching Award for his contributions to the field by training over a dozen University-based and private surgeons at the Elk County Eye Clinic in Complex Anterior Segment Microsurgery.

Dr. Luis W. Lu Was The Recipient Of The American Academy Of Ophthalmology Achievement Award

The Academy has a small number of awards; among the 25,000 members, few of the members are recognized with the Achievement Award for their contributions to Medicine.

These awards recognize the recipients for ongoing participation in important activities as presenting articles, courses or papers at the Annual Meeting. Points are awarded, and when the required number is achieved, there is a nice letter, certificate, and ribbon presented.
