Elk County Eye Clinic

Our Eye Examinations

The examination will include the history taking, computerized refraction and measurement of the contour of the cornea, power of your glasses or contact lenses, color vision, depth perception, interpupillary distance, visual acuity at distance and near, manual fine tuning of the refraction, examination of the eyelids, pupils, eye movements, cornea, iris and eye pressure.

A complete eye examination requires dilation of the pupils by the use of eye drops. This will allow us to examine the internal parts of your eyes, blood supply, health of the nerve, macula, and the walls of the eye. Because these drops take between 10 to 30 minutes to take effect, a complete exam is performed in two parts - one part before, and one part after the drops. Therefore, you can expect to be a the Clinic at least one hour. Should further studies be required, another appointment may be necessary.

Some aspects of the examination will be performed by a technician. This in no way distracts from the quality of care we provide, but in fact, enhances it. By assigning routine tasks such as history taking and the measurement of your vision to a technician, we are free to spend more time examining the patient and then discussing whatever problem the patient may have. We are proud of our employee's work. Their performance reflects on us, and the care given to you.
